A group of 20 turkeys was stopping traffic on Rte 2 this morning. (The photo doesn't show them all.) This year it seems that there are many more turkeys than in the past - and the families are much bigger. I was talking to one of my neighbors; he made the same observation.
Earlier in the summer, there would have been a couple of adult birds and a bunch of young ones. Now it's hard to tell them apart.

I have noticed the same thing here in Southern NH as well. We usually have turkeys in the neighbourhood, but there seems to be more this year.
I wonder what's going on? Maybe there was a really huge crop of acorns last year?
